Im going to order a new Canon 550d in a kit with a lens. I'm fairly new to SLR photography which means I have not much knowledge about the difference between lenses. There is an offer for a Canon 550d with the very common EF-S 18-55mm IS lens and an (more expensive) offer with a EF-S 18-135mm IS lens. I'm unsure about which one to buy.

The#1 Mistake – Not Just Focal Length. The number one mistake food photographers make when they want to upgrade their 18-55mm lens kit is they focus solely on the focal length of a lens and put their blinkers on so they are oblivious to the other particulars of a lens. Soley focusing on the Focal Length of a lens, being oblivious to its

ReviewPrice: £130. The standard kit lens, the 18-55mm straddles the 30mm standard focal length (35mm equivalent), so this is likely to be the most commonly used of Samsung’s NX lenses. The 3x Thefocal length range 18-55mm means that the lens can be used : * from a wide angle (18mm) very useful for landscape, * to a focal length (55 mm) that is typical to shooting portrait. With a P&S camera, a 18-55mm would correspond to a 3 times optical zoom. Does it make sense Hope that the comment will help.

Thenewer EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM introduced in 2017 is slightly better optically than the older 'III' introduced in 2011. The center of the frame is about equal for both lenses, but the further one goes from the center towards the edges the larger difference there is between the two, particularly at the longer focal lengths.
Introducedin 1991, the Canon EF 75–300mm f/4–5.6 lens is a telephoto zoom lens for Canon EOS single-lens reflex cameras with an EF lens mount. There are 3 basic types of the lens: the IS USM (Image Stabilization, Ultra Sonic Motor), the USM (USM, no IS) and non-USM (no USM, no IS). All 3 types are generally considered to be low-end Thecurrent difference at a T4i body is $16 less than the kit. So the 18-55 costs very little. The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II goes for about $300 in U.S. stores, but you can get it from amazon.com for $174. The EF-S 18-200mm f/ IS sells for around $700 in the stores and $569 on amazon.com. Theef-s 18-55mm is a great lens to get acquainted with how these kit lenses work, understanding maximum aperture and challenging your knowledge and skill when it comes to taking photos. Understanding
Soan 18-55 lens on a DX camera will give the same field of view as 27-82.5 on a full frame camera (although in real use these are quite approximate). Maybe you made a typo, but your 70-300 is a FX lens, not DX. That means it's perfectly usable on the D600. It dovetails nicely with the 24-85. Those two lenses give you everything from wide
Thenumber 18-55mm indicates the focal length range of the lens. In this case, the lens has a focal length range from 18mm to 55mm. This focal length range can be adjusted by
Theextreme available DSLR DX lens so far (as far as I know) is 18mm -300mm = 300/18 = 15.55:1 ~= 16x "Ultrazoom" compact cameras and video cameras with small sensor areas need correspondingly less glass to achieve a given 35mm-equivalent focal length*, and quality is less to far-less of an issue than with SLRs, so far larger max to min zoom
Theyre also all AF-S models which means they’ll auto-focus when fitted on the latest D40 and D40x bodies. In terms of focal range, the most basic model in this group test is the Nikkor DX 18-55mm II. Introduced with the Nikon D40 DSLR, this is the cheapest lens on test here and offers a basic 3x optical range.
Thatis true for the 18-55 kit lens you have as well; it is not adjusted for crop factor. Conversely, if the lens is not removable the focal length is generally stated with the 35mm crop factor conversion applied. Some compact cameras with fixed lenses do apply the “crop” factor when labelling the lens. In my experience, most don’t.
